Comparing the Bayesian Unknown Change-Point Model and Simulation Modeling Analysis to Analyze Single Case Experimental Designs

چکیده
Recently, there has been an increased interest in developing statistical methodologies for analyzing single case experimental design (SCED) data to supplement visual analysis. Some of these are simulation-driven such as Bayesian methods because can compensate small sample sizes, which is a main challenge SCEDs. Two approaches: unknown change-point model (BUCP) and simulation modeling analysis (SMA) were compared the present study three real datasets that exhibit “clear” immediacy, “unclear” delayed effects. Although SMA estimates be used answer some aspects functional relationship between independent outcome variables, they cannot address immediacy or provide effect size estimate considers autocorrelation required by What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) Standards. BUCP overcomes drawbacks SMA. In final analysis, it recommended both analyses conducted thorough

Single - Case Experimental Designs
Single-case experimental designs are characterized by repeated measurements of an individual's behav ior, comparisons across experimental conditions imposed on that individual, and assessment of the measurements' reliability within and across the con ditions. Such designs were integral to the develop ment of behavioral science. Early work in the field of psychology depended on the analysis o...
متن کاملUsing generalized additive (mixed) models to analyze single case designs.
This article shows how to apply generalized additive models and generalized additive mixed models to single-case design data. These models excel at detecting the functional form between two variables (often called trend), that is, whether trend exists, and if it does, what its shape is (e.g., linear and nonlinear). In many respects, however, these models are also an ideal vehicle for analyzing ...
متن کاملSingle-case experimental designs: reflections on conduct and analysis.
In this editorial discussion we reflect on the issues addressed by, and arising from, the papers in this special issue on Single-Case Experimental Design (SCED) study methodology. We identify areas of consensus and disagreement regarding the conduct and analysis of SCED studies. Despite the long history of application of SCEDs in studies of interventions in clinical and educational settings, th...

متن کاملA Bayesian Change Point Model for Historical Time Series Analysis
Political relationships often vary over time but standard models ignore temporal variation in regression relationships. We describe a Bayesian model that treats the change-point in a time series as a parameter to be estimated. In this model, inference for the regression coefficients reflects prior uncertainty about the location of the change point. Inferences about regression coefficients, unco...
